Welcome to my world of amazing holograms, optics, light art and vintage 3D. New this year: The Hologram of the Moon. It will be unveiled to the public for the first time @ NYC Maker Faire 2011.
Here is what we have in store for the entire family:
We are INDOORS this year! Look for booth: #6385. Come and meet me (Frank DeFreitas) and my special guest, good friend, and holographer extraodinaire, Peter Miller.
The Hologram of the Moon: I've captured the moon, and made it into a DIY hologram -- using telescopic images taken over 150 years apart. I'll have info on how YOU can make a similar one with a modified DIY holography system as was featured in my Make Magazine article (vol. 25).
World's First Laser: See a 3D laser holographic image of Theodore Maiman's world's first working laser* from 1960. Even the Smithsonian doesn't have this laser . . . yet. But I do. As a hologram! And you'll see it appear (and disappear) right before your eyes.
Did you make, want to make, or attempt to make holograms with the Make Magazine DIY holography article (vol. 25)? I'll be on hand to personally address any questions.
See Holographic Light Art prints, created using holographic optics and gratings, Cape May Diamonds, lasers, LED's, antique Edison light bulbs, and 19th century oil lamps.
We will have plenty of hologram hand outs (booth #6385); and a great holographic box of toys* for the kids to view. All the toys are holograms!
Enjoy antique 3D displays, such as the 1918 Shomescope, stereoviews, and vintage mid-century view-master, stereo realist, lenticulars, opticals, plus more.
